Singer Britney Spears‘ ex-husband Kevin Federline gave his ex-wife his blessing after the superstar announced she’s expecting a child with fiancé Sam Asghari.
Shortly after Spears announced she was pregnant with her and Sam Asghari’s first child, her ex-husband Kevin Federline revealed in a statement that he is giving the superstar his blessing.
“Kevin is aware of the recent posting by Britney regarding her announced pregnancy and wishes her a happy and healthy pregnancy,” Kevin’s attorney Mark Kaplan tells E! News, “and congratulates her and Sam Asghari as they go through the excitement of planning parenthood together.”
Spears and Federline got married back in September 2004 after a short five months of dating. Two years later, just 2 years after marrying Kevin the “Oops!…I Did It Again” singer filed for divorce in September 2006. The former couple shares two sons, Sean Preston, 16, and Jayden, 15.
On April 11, the singer nearly broke the worldwide web when she took to Instagram to announce her baby news. Along with a photo of a tea cup and flowers, the 40-year-old revealed that she first noticed that she had put on some extra pounds after a recent trip to Hawaii with fiancé Sam, who she is already referring to him as her “husband” in recent social media posts.
Recognizing it wasn’t just food bloat, she wrote, “I got a pregnancy test … and uhhhhh well … I am having a baby.”
Prior to this announcement, Spears has been vocal about her desire to have another baby, though she claimed her former conservatorship—controlled by her father Jamie Spears, and his team—did not allow her to do so.

“I want to be able to get married and have a baby,” she stated while addressing a Los Angeles court in June 2021. “I was told right now in the conservatorship I am not able to get married or have a baby. I have an [IUD] inside of myself so I don’t get pregnant. They don’t want me to have children—any more children.”
She also added, “I deserve to have the same rights as anybody does by having a child, a family, any of those things.”
Five months later, in November 2021, the pop star’s conservatorship was terminated after 13 years.
After five years of dating, Asghari proposed to Spears in September 2021, also appears ready to be a father. The 28-year-old personal trainer took to social media after Spears announced her pregnancy, telling his followers he was ready for the job.
“Marriage and kids are a natural part of a strong relationship filled with love and respect,” he wrote on April 11. “Fatherhood is something i have always looked forward to and i don’t take lightly.”
Along with a picture of two lions with a cub, Asghari added, “It is the most important job i will ever do.”
