Nearly 2 months later the rapper was arrested and charged with rape, domestic abuse, false imprisonment and other crimes, a grand jury in Ascension Parish Louisiana decided to charge the emcee with first-degree rape, according to a Rolling Stone report published on Thursday (Sept. 8, 2022). If Mystikal is convicted, the lifetime registered sex offender will face life in prison according to state law.

“It’s an indictment,” Tyler’s lawyer Joel Pearce told reporters on Wednesday (Sept. 7). “It means nothing. We look forward to our day in court.”

Media Music News has reached out to the Ascension Parish District Attorney’s Office and the rapper’s lawyer for comment.

“The Man Right Chea” rapper has remained in prison without bond since his arrest on July 31. The former No Limit artist is accused of mercilessly raping and assaulting a woman at his Prairieville, Louisiana. home on July 30. The victim, who Mystikal’s attorney’s says has been in a long-term relationship with the emcee, claims Mystikal was provoked after he believed the woman had taking money from him. Mystikal reportedly punched, choked and pulled out the woman’s hair. He then supposedly took her keys and cell phone, as well as stopped her from leaving his home.

The victim claims she attempted to help the rapper find the money and discovered a “crystalline substance” in his dresser. She then claims he prayed with her and splashed her with rubbing alcohol to clean her “bad spirits,” afterwards he forced her onto a bed and raped her. The woman finally escaped and went to directly to the hospital and called the police. Xanax, heroin and marijuana were later found at Mystikal’s home by police officers. Detectives also discovered clumps of the woman’s hair and a broken fingernail at the residence.
