This year the price tag for doing business with rapper Drake is nearly $400 million. According to Variety, Sir Lucian Grainge disclosed an extensive, well rounded deal with the ‘God’s Plan’ rapper that covers recordings, publishing, merchandise, and visual media projects.
Variety reached out to a few industry insiders to see how much that deal could be. While one referenced “LeBron-sized,” possibly implying to one of his league-leading contracts or his large business agreements with Nike or more, The rapper’s lyrics stand out. “Three-sixty upfront, it all comes full circle,” he spits on “Lemon Pepper Freestyle.”
In addition to this announcement, sources say the deal could be north of $400 million. The actual amount was not revealed.

In April 2022, Universal Music Group announced a new deal with singer The Weeknd. The deal solidifies The Weeknd’s partnership with Universal Music Group’s Republic Records, his label home and partner for the past 10 years, and will continue to be his label partner for future music releases. The Weeknd & XO will carry on with working closely with Bravado, UMG’s top brand management and merchandise organization, to build and develop global merchandising, branding, eCommerce, and retail licensing options for projects and releases in the future. Additionally, the new contract covers future audiovisual projects with Republic Records and UMG. A number for The Weeknd’s deal was not revealed.
