Didi Hirsch and the City of Los Angeles which is the premier provider of whole-person mental health and crisis care, honored singer Jhené Aiko as a Mental Health Is Health Ambassador on the steps of City Hall on this past Friday, April 29th.
“There’s no coincidence that we are on this earth with billions of others and there’s no reason anyone should feel alone in anything that they’re going through,” Jhené Aiko mentioned. “It’s important that we’re there for one another to help each other get through this journey because it can be beautiful.”

Jhené Aiko has had her own mental health challenges. She has spoken candidly about her anxiety, despair, and unresolved trauma in public. As a demonstration of personal treatment, she began writing lyrics and making music, translating her anguish and suffering into art. She reiterated at the MHIHM announcement that life is a journey, and at times it can be difficult, but it’s easier when you’re not alone.
The singer has joined MTV Entertainment Group, and 19-year-old student Adia Fadaei, a crisis volunteer at Didi Hirsch, as a Mental Health Youth Ambassador. Singers Selena Gomez, Bebe Rexha, and rapper Kid Cudi have also been Didi Hirsch ambassadors in the past, but Aiko was the first to be honored on the city’s steps for the first-ever Mental Health is Health Month Proclamation.
